Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will report to the General Manager and assume responsibility for implementing and maintaining the APEL Quality Operating System at the Coburg, Oregon facility. Overall responsibilities will focus on the extrusion process, product quality meeting customer standards, identifying and analyzing deviations, performing root-cause analysis, developing and implementing corrective actions, and provide results and feedback in a timely manner to stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

·        Hold a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline

·        Have internship or job experience in quality related roles

·        Be familiar with ISO 9001 quality systems

·        Have experience with aluminum extrusion or related manufacturing processes

·        Have experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

·        Have experience with calipers, micrometers, depth gauge and other measurement equipment

·        Be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office

·        Highly motivated and organized with excellent communication skills

General duties are to:

·        Perform press audits to ensure best practices are followed

·        Ensure products moving downstream meet quality standards through inspection and process audits

·        Educate and clarify quality standards to production personnel

·        Develop and update quality plans to enhance inspection activities

·        Perform data and trend analysis on extrusion issues and quality inquiries

·        Represent and promote our customer’s expectations within our facility and processes

·        Perform investigations and root-cause analysis on all quality concerns
