Requisition Summary
 The Benchmarking team, located in Renton, WA is responsible for product teardowns and competitor vehicle analysis. This position will assist in disassembly and documentation of truck parts, with a major focus on compiling a central repository for all findings and results. Benchmarking team members interface with cross functional groups including design engineering, purchasing and manufacturing, working to support design efficiency, quality improvement and cost reduction projects.
 
Requires independent judgment and creativity under minimal supervision to disassemble, photograph, measure and document components. This is a hands-on assignment.
 
Job Functions / Responsibilities
 Disassembles and documents vehicle systems for benchmarking. Adheres to project schedules and ensures proper set-up to meet project objectives. Collects and analyzes data. Write project reports.
Organizes components on layout boards for product reviews and cross-functional idea generation workshops. Ensures proper vehicle system and component organization, photographs and labels components for evaluation and retrieval of hardware for comparative purposes. Maintains organized workshop area and project documentation, including the component database and photographs.
Follows established safety policies and remains alert for possible safety hazards in own work as well as in work of others. Maintains highly organized lab, workshop and storage areas.
 
Required Qualifications / Skills
  •  Undergraduate student in engineering or technical field
  • Knowledge of automotive/truck mechanical and electrical systems a plus. Ability to work with manufacturers’ drawings and specifications
  • Ability to use appropriate shop equipment and hand/power tools
  • Excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Well organized and accurate with detailed work
  • Requires independent judgement and creativity
  • Strong team oriented behavior
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; database experience a plus
  • Ability to manage personal workload to meet project deadlines. Willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Ability to occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 lbs,
  • Must be comfortable working in a warehouse/shop environment
