To design new products and improve existing products in accordance with the company’s procedures and protocols

Responsibilities/Duties

•Design and analyze mechanical systems and assemblies
•Develop, release and revise mechanical drawings and 3D models
•Ensure designs are safe, effective, manufacturable, reliable and meet quality system compliance
•Ensure designs meet Superior Product at Reduced Cost (SPARC) initiatives
•Perform inspections, verification and validation testing
•Meet and fulfill project timelines and budgets
•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training
•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary


Required Skills

•Must be a self-starter, creative team player, professional, detail-oriented and honest

Must have the ability to:
•Multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment
•Use hand tools and standard power tools
•Read and comprehend work instructions
•Prepare and build prototypes
•Prepare and present summary reports
•Travel internationally at least twice a year for up to 2 weeks at a time
•Lift/push/pull 40 lbs

Must have:
•Relentless drive to achieve advancement and continuous improvement
•Basic working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer
•Strong mechanical inclination
•Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Intermediate presentation, verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Skills

•Intermediate working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer preferred
•Basic familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation preferred
•Basic understanding of Lean Principles preferred
•Basic familiarity with American National Standards Institute/Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (ANSI/RESNA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards preferred


Required Experience

Preferred Experience

•At least 2,000 hours or 1 year of equivalent experience in 3D solid modeling of mechanical components and assemblies along with 2D detail drawings preferred
•At least 1 year of hands-on experience with machining, welding and fabrication of mechanical assemblies preferred
•At least 1 year of hands-on experience in the design, manufacturing and assembly of fabricated mechanical structures preferred
•At least 1 year of experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred
•At least 1 year of experience in designing mechanical systems and assemblies preferred
•Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred


Required Education

•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years of experience in designing mechanical systems and assemblies

Preferred Education

•Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
