Engineering & Survey Technician 1: This position performs engineering and surveying work requiring the application of technical skill and knowledge in planning and carrying out engineering design, inspections, traffic and speed studies, construction surveys, corner restoration and other related tasks. This position is distinguished from the Engineering/Surveying Technician 2 position by the lower level of complexity of projects assigned and less experienced decision-making activity, as well as the increased field work.  Annual Salary: $36,190 - $44,328.

Engineering & Survey Technician 2: This position provides engineering and surveying support to the engineering and road division. This position requires the application of technical skills and knowledge in planning and carrying out engineering design, inspections, traffic and speed studies, construction surveys, corner restoration and other related tasks as assigned by higher level Engineering Associates or Land Surveyor. Assignments involve basic engineering and surveying knowledge. Duties will consist of introductory civil engineering work such as speed studies, traffic counts, cost estimates, minor design work, site development assistance, CAD drafting; as well as field work assisting surveyors as well as providing construction inspection assistance.  Annual Salary: $39,732 - $48,661.

MFA: Technical Engineering
MFA: Construction Engineering
MFA: Inspection and Data Collection
MFA: Surveying

Minimum Qualification:
Engineering & Survey Technician 1:
  • Associate's degree or 2 year technical degree/certificate in civil engineering/surveying, civil engineering technology or a field with an emphasis in Civil Engineering and Survey
  • 2 years of in-the-field experience in civil engineering support work. (ie collecting and evaluating field data; assisting with drawing, calculating and preparing engineering plans; maintaining technical files and records; etc)
  • Possession of an Oregon Drivers License, with acceptable driving record.
  • Must obtain an ODOT Flagger card within 6 months after hire.
  • Must obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED within 6 months after hire.

Engineering & Survey Technician 2:
  • Associate's degree or 2 year technical degree/certificate in civil engineering/surveying, civil engineering technology or a field with an emphasis in Civil Engineering and Survey
  • 3 years of in-the-field experience in civil engineering support work. (ie collecting and evaluating field data; assisting with drawing, calculating and preparing engineering plans; maintaining technical files and records; etc)
  • Possession of an Oregon Drivers License, with acceptable driving record.
  • Must obtain an ODOT Flagger card within 6 months after hire.
  • Must obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED within 6 months after hire.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, for example a 4 year degree in the proper field and 1 year of experience. 

**Please note: Research alone will not count towards the years of experience needed; however, office and field internships in civil engineering and surveying will count towards experience**
 
This position requires driving and may require use of a personal vehicle.
