Industrial Engineer

Microchip has an opportunity for an entry level Industrial Engineer I at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon.

Functions include
  • Physical equipment time studies, archival data collection and analysis
  • Must be able to plan, execute and document study methods and results
  • Use statistical methods to analyze and validate studies
  • Capacity Planning
  • Ensure all model inputs are accurate and representative
  • Identify capital needs, create and present ramp plans and work with other groups to support the facilitation of the plan
  • Labor Planning 
  • Project Management
  • Modeling for daily Production execution planning
  • Partner with Production Leads, Supervisors, Managers and other Industrial Engineers
  • Analysis of wafer fab workflow, cycle time and bottlenecks
  • Understand bottleneck management and application of Theory of Constraints
  • Understand and manage sources of variation
  • Analysis and optimization of tool configurations, material movement and management methodologies

Job Requirements

  • BS in Industrial Engineering 
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • A strong desire for personal continuous improvement and learning
  • Ability to apply theoretical/textbook concepts in practical, real-world applications
  • Self-directed, self-motivated
  • Able to contribute as a reliable and effective team member
  • Strong organization, documentation and writing skills
  • Creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Software Competencies
  • Strong experience with Excel and Visual Basic macros required
  • Arena experience is preferred

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering related internships/co-op/work experience
  • Strong academic performance and extracurricular achievements
  • Experience in Semiconductor Wafer Fab Data Analysis, Capacity Modeling and Performance Improvement

Special Requirements
May need to attend work related meetings on unscheduled days

Critical Physical Requirements
Able to lift approx. 25lbs, push and pull approx. 60lbs; carry 15lbs; sit 50%; stand 30%; walk 20%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing.
