Entry Level Industrial Engineer

The incumbent owns and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in areas of Facilities, Manufacturing Process, Ergonomics and Industrial Engineering. The incumbent will report to Operations Management for responsibilities and priorities.
The following essential job functions are performed as an Industrial Engineer:
Material flow                       
  • Develops Inventory, Queuing, and Ordering Models based on various requirements for multiple projects to support a variable demand
  • Analyzes material usage to optimize Material Selection and Plant-wide Standardization in an effort to reduce costs
  • Manages material flow of frozen materials, consumables etc. from point of origin to insertion
  • Works to improve process flow and optimization of movement through bottle necks and general practices (e.g. autoclave, OPF workflow)
  • Uses the philosophy and practices of 5S to create tools and methodology that work within Janicki’s dynamic shop environment
Information Flow
  • Optimizes and standardizes workflow and other groups (Sales / Design / PM / ME/QA) to Shop Floor
  • Leverages ERP tools to control workflow
  • Communicates and Trains method improvements to global community 
Develop and Maintain a Janicki Manufacturing Method
  • Creates, manages, and leads process and program specific continuous improvement initiatives, including events to ensure they are established with cross functional buy in
  • Evaluates and reduces waste in programs and processes through training and experience, in an effort to gain a familiarity/intimacy in said program/process, and uses knowledge/wisdom gained to identify improvement opportunities
  • Creates a Janicki style of Lean Manufacturing that incorporates the JI culture to progress the company towards higher efficiency and a better working environment.
  • Works to stabilize processes statistically, in order to better understand the behavior of the system, and then use the Scientific Method to implement improvements
Facilities and Equipment Engineering        
  • Evaluates the use of all Plant wide equipment in order to optimize workflow, processes, capabilities, and uses through the Scientific Method
  • Provides an IE perspective and input in the purchasing and implementation of new equipment and software into the shop floor.
  • Works with automation, facilities, and maintenance to provide solutions for quality, workflow, and general plant optimization
General
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS
MUST BE U.S. CITIZEN OR LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT FOR THIS POSITION. 
Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3). 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Composite/Material Science, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field is required for both Levels of Industrial Engineer.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products and Primavera; some experience with Catia and Unigraphics is required.
  • A combination of Extensive work experience, (10+ Years) and other education may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language

  • Level 2 Industrial Engineer will have 2-3 years of IE working experience preferred.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of the fields' concepts, practices and procedures; must be able to rely on extensive experience, problem-solving skills and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • An advanced degree M.S. Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering preferred 
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED
Vacuum pumps, ply cutter, scissors, calibrated equipment, gauges, various hand and power tools, tape measure and computers
WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to dust, loud noises, chemical fumes, fiberglass, and carbon fiber
