Internship - Test Engineer

We have an opening for a Test Engineer Intern to work in a dynamic Medical Device Research and Development environment. This position provides visibility to the device development process and hands-on experience with engineering prototypes and finished products.
DEKA offers Internships and Co-Ops for full time students* (must be at least 18 years of age). Internships last a minimum of 10 weeks, 12 preferred. All summer internships must start no later than June 17, 2019.
Responsibilities:
  • Verify the product performance relative to system-level requirements
  • Write test procedures for durability, reliability, and other assessments
  • Execute test procedures on engineering prototypes and finished products
  • Creating and evaluating test fixtures needed for product design verification
  • Assist in failure investigation and root cause analysis
  • Produce test results for Regulatory and Agency approval of medical products.
  • Gain experience in medical device product development
  • Acquire knowledge of FDA’s Quality System Regulations (QSR’s), ISO 13485, and other standards for medical device development and verification
Requirements:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate technical program
  • Experience with the following preferred:
  • CAD (AutoDesk Inventor, Creo, or Solidworks)
  • Design of Experiments
  • Engineering Statistics
  • MS Word, MS Excel
  • Laboratory classes that include documentation of experiments
  • Basic electrical circuits, breadboard, and soldering.
  • Programming experience with Labview, Python, C++, or Java

*A full time student is defined as being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester at an undergraduate program, or a minimum of 9 credits per semester for a graduate program.
