ENGINEER - RESEARCH ANALYST - RESEARCH ENGINEER - UNMANNED SYSTEMS - SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, MICHIGAN

Develop hardware/software solutions (including sensor fusion and control systems) for autonomous/automated/unmanned vehicle, mobile robotic, and intelligent vehicle systems; perform in all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements definition, hardware/software/systems design, implementation, testing, and integration; initiate advanced research and development programs, interact with clients, and make technical presentations. Additional information about the type of work conducted by the Unmanned Systems Section can be found at: ugv.swri.org. The work will be performed in Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan. The position is contingent of funding from the U.S. Government. Once tasks in Michigan are completed, the candidate may be considered for transfer to the San Antonio offices to perform similar work.

Education/Experience:

Requires at least BS, MS or PhD degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineer, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with at least a 3.0 GPA. BS must have a minimum of 1 year of related academic research and/or internship experience. MS/PHD must have graduate work related to autonomous/automated vehicles or robotics in the unmanned ground (UGV) domain. Linux and various PC operating systems experience required; C++ development experience required; strong software skills required; Robot Operating System (ROS) experience preferred; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well individually or as a member of a project team is required; excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Special Considerations:

Work assignment is in Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
