Logistics Engineer

**Must be US Citizen or Permanent US Resident at this time**

Design and implement future logistics flows based on lean manufacturing concepts to improve material availability at point-of-use. Develop internal and external supply chain processes with a focus on end-to-end logistics. Work alongside the material handling organization and the day-to-day logistics engineers.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design internal and external logistics processes that utilize lean manufacturing concepts
  • Define strategies to optimize procedures, minimize wastes, and decrease logistics costs
  • Implement future material handling flows and all supporting physical and electronic processes and documentation
  • Create process standardizations, operator expectations, material disbursement routes, and related KPI/PIs
  • Strong data purification and analysis skills; must be able to make data driven decisions and influence
  • Design facility and flows for logistic processes to support material availability at point of use,
  • Have an understanding of packaging structure, inventory volumes, and how it impacts supply chain and material handling
  • Help create a facility that is founded on a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) station layout with just-in-time deliveries, and a two-bin systems
  • Communicate changes and strategies to the shop floor to develop competencies and an understanding of the future way-of-working

Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficient in oral and written communication in English (other languages: Swedish and French would be a plus)
  • A Working knowledge of project management techniques
  • Strong PC skills (must be advanced/proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically MS Excel, Access a plus
  • Minitab/statistical software experience beneficial
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, CATIA, or CREO
  • Previous automotive or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Working with warehouse management system s
  • Volvo/Mack Production System/Toyota Production System
  • Lean manufacturing concepts and principles
  • Six Sigma understanding and applications
  • Packaging knowledge a strong advantage
 
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a related field
