Mechanical Technician, II

This role will be focused on working in a mechanical engineering research and development laboratory to support the Product Development Life Cycle by executing a variety of laboratory tasks. Ensure that all lab corporate requirements and industry standards are met during the project development stage through the use of computers, computer controls, robotics, automation, CAD, machine shop, and various data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work in association with engineers and technicians to create fixturing and equipment to support testing, using CAD software, and Machine Shop equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of creative input, as testing specifications/equipment can be incomplete during early project development stages.
  • Monitor equipment performance, tests progress, troubleshoot and diagnose typical problems with processes and equipment under direction, or following documented methods or procedure.
  • Validate test parameters, equipment calibration, identify and document failures, adjust and repair equipment.
  • Work independently and as part of teams; be able to effectively communicate with engineers, designers, customers, business partners and vendors.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of the engineering theory as it relates to mechanical, and environmental testing standards and associated equipment/fixturing. Technical or B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  2. Knowledge of CAD software (3D) to generate designs for fixturing and equipment.
  3. Basic Machine Shop experience; know operation and safety regulations of machine shop equipment and environments.
