Engineering Technician 1/2

Performs skilled technical duties relating to public improvement projects, which includes engineering surveys, 3D computer drafting and design, developing plans for construction, and inspection of projects in accordance with city, state and federal standards and requirements. Works as team member with other technicians and engineers.

Depending upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities possessed by the successful applicant, this position may be filled as either an Engineering Technician 1 or Engineering Technician 2. If filled as an Engineering Technician 1, the employee is considered to be on a continuing training status and expected to work towards obtaining the skills required of the Engineering Technician 2 level. Once the employee's supervisor determines that the required skill level has been achieved, the employee flexes to the second level in the series.

HOURLY RATE: 
Engineering Technician 1: $24.16 - $30.12 / Hour
Engineering Technician 2: $26.38 - $32.90 / Hour

Experience and Training Guidelines - Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Applicants with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field meet the minimum qualifications for the Engineering Technician 1.
 
Engineering Technician 1: 
Experience and Training:
1) Associate degree in civil engineering or a closely related field and one year experience in construction surveying, computer aided drafting, and/or construction inspection; or
2) Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or closely related field.
 
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain an appropriate, valid Oregon driver's license.
 
Engineering Technician 2:                                          
Experience and Training:
1) Associate degree in civil engineering or a closely related field and three years experience in construction surveying, computer aided drafting, and/or construction inspection; or
2) Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or closely related field and two years experience in construction surveying, computer aided drafting, and/or construction inspection
 
License or Certificate:
Possession of or ability to obtain, and maintain an appropriate, valid Oregon driver's license.
