Nondestructive (NDT/NDE) Engineer

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking a nondestructive test (NDT) engineer.


Job Description/Duties: 
  • Develop, qualify, and implement unique nondestructive inspection techniques for evaluating in-service components.
  • Design, fabricate, and procure hardware needed to perform inspections.
  • Perform and/or coordinate field inspections of installed components using manual or remotely operated advanced inspection techniques.
  • Communicate and interact extensively with suppliers, component designers, and management personnel.
  • Represent BPMI at technical meetings with suppliers, other prime contractors, shipyards, and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program representatives.
 
Experience/Skills:
  • Familiarity with nondestructive test methods and experience in ultrasonic testing are desirable.
  • Ability to work independently or in group settings in a “hands on” engineering environment.
 
Job Requirements: 
  •  B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or related science from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to government security clearance requirements. In order to work at BPMI, applicants must complete a Federal background investigation and be granted a security clearance.
  • Travel to Naval shipyards and suppliers is required.
